SCRAPER SITE

A Scraper Site is a website that features content stolen from other sites and presented as original.

Scraper sites copy valuable content from legitimate websites and republish it on their own sites. The content scraping, or web scraping, as it’s sometimes called, can be accomplished manually through copy and paste or, as is more commonly the case, with the use of automated software tools known as site scrapers.

Stealing content saves the owners of scraper sites the bother and expense of creating or purchasing original content.  Scraper site owners select high-value content loaded with keywords that will increase their page’s search engine results page (SERP) performance and drive traffic to their site. Ads on the pages generate revenue for the site owners.

Although content scraping is used for many legitimate purposes, creating scraper sites is not one of them. Most website content is protected by copyright law; furthermore, it is fraudulent to falsely represent even public domain content as one’s own work.
